October 12 wind damage

LAWTON, Okla._If you spent any time outdoors Monday, you probably noticed the high winds.

Besides posing an increased danger for grass fires, some residents dealt with damage caused by the wind. The strong winds knocked over a couple of trees across Lawton and Altus. One tree was split in half in a Lawton neighborhood at Northwest Chestnut Lane and Horton Boulevard. Another tree was partially in the road way at Southwest 3rd Street and ‘H’ Avenue.

The wind also left many garbage cans blowing around in the wind.

Electric crews were called out to a stop light at Northwest 11th Street and Ferris Avenue after a piece of plastic around the light came apart and was nearly ripped from the stop light.
