Officer-involved shooting: OSBI called in to investigate - KSWO, Lawton, OK- Wichita Falls, TX: News, Weather, Sports. ABC, 24/7, Telemundo -

LAWTON, Okla._Lawton police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near Southwest Sheridan Road and Lee Boulevard.

Police say they were called out to Southwest Sheridan Road and ‘I’ Avenue at 4:53 p.m. on reports of a man walking alongside traffic and waving a gun at cars as they passed by. A few minutes later, an officer arrived on scene and shots were fired.

Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting at Southwest Lee Boulevard, just east of Sheridan Road.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until family can be notified.

The name of the officer has not been released at this time, but LPD says the officer has been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

Chief James Smith says OSBI has been called in to continue to investigation.
