3 arrested in shooting incident

LAWTON, Okla.­­_Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting Friday in central Lawton.

Police were called out to Northwest 3rd Street and Euclid Avenue around noon in response to reports that a gun was being fired outside a home there.

The incident drew a large number of officers, who ordered eleven people out of the home at gunpoint. Police said a woman was firing at a vehicle, and shot out one of its windows.

The shooter was arrested on a gun possession charge, because of a prior felony conviction.  The person inside the car was arrested, as well one of the people who came out of the house, both on outstanding city warrants.

Police said they believe the shooting was instigated by a previous incident, but that no one was injured.

    According to a report released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health, the number of Oklahomans who died due to the flu this flu season has risen to 84. The increase of 16 deaths in the latest report occurred at the end of January to the beginning of February for the most part. The delayed reporting is due to late reports received by state concerning flu-related deaths. According to officials, none of those deaths had a positive flu test during the past week.
