Comanche mayor, vice mayor resign after city manager fired

COMANCHE, Okla._Turmoil at the top of the city government in Comanche as the three leading positions in the city—city manager, mayor and vice mayor— became vacant Tuesday night.

The Comanche City Council held a special session Tuesday night to discuss the future of City Manager Wilt Brown. After about an hour of discussion, the City Council voted unanimously to fire him. There was no reason given for the dismissal.

Brown told 7News that he wasn't sure either, and didn't even attend Tuesday night's meeting. After the decision to fire Brown, both the mayor and vice-mayor resigned.

Currently, the city clerk is the acting city manager and Councilwoman Janice Willis is the acting mayor.

A special council meeting is set for Monday to discuss how to permanently fill those positions.
