Lawton fall clean-up still happening

LAWTON, Okla._Rain or shine, the City of Lawton says fall cleanup will still happen this weekend.

It's your chance to get rid of trash and recyclable items. They'll accept old auto batteries, tires, scrap metal, household appliances and tree branches that are five feet long or shorter.

The event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 23-24, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the McMahon Auditorium parking lot.

Should lightning move into the area, crews will be temporarily removed until the danger passes. This event is taking the place of the city's fall curbside bulk trash pickup, which was canceled because of a shortage of sanitation truck drivers.
