Lawton hosts health care event for city employees

LAWTON, Okla._The City of Lawton kicked off their new fitness program with a health care event for city employees.

The program is aimed at helping city employees stay fit by using state-of-the-art mobile health tracking technology to monitor fitness. Lawton believes the program will serve as a model for other public and private healthcare programs across the country.

Molly Ortiz, an associate product marketing manager for iHealth Labs, says she is encouraged by what Lawton is doing.

"We're just excited to be able to partner and to help cultivate healthy lifestyles for city employees and we hope they'll measure, track and share their information with us along the way. We're encouraged by the program and by what they're trying to do here in the City of Lawton," Ortiz said.

IHealth Labs partnered with the City of Lawton by donating 400 fitness trackers to the city. The trackers will monitor steps taken, distance traveled, calories burnt and sleep efficiency.
