No. 1 MacArthur overcomes slow start, pounds Chickasha 57-6

Senior receiver Jarviear Christon helped No. 1 MacArthur shake off a slow start to crush Chickasha 57-6 on Thursday night. Christon scored four touchdowns, all coming in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

The Highlanders were sluggish early, especially offensively. The Mac offense was forced to punt on its first two possessions and then fumbled on its third, keeping the game scoreless after the 1st quarter.

But a defensive stand on a Chickasha 4th down attempt seemed to spark the Highlanders as they marched down the field early in the 2nd quarter, with J.R. Winningham finding Christon on a 10-yard touchdown pass for the game's first score. Mac added the two-point conversion courtesy of Micah Scott.

Christon added two more td's via pop passes and Walter Neil found the end zone from a yard out to give the Highlanders a 29-6 lead at halftime. They outscored the Chicks 28-0 in the 2nd half.

MacArthur improves to 8-0, 5-0 in District 5A-1.
