Community supports young man with failing heart

LAWTON, Okla._The Lawton community came together Saturday afternoon to support a young man with a big heart.

24-year-old Orlandus Noel was diagnosed with congestive heart failure last year and was told he needed a new heart.

Since then, Orlandus and his family have been traveling back and forth between Lawton and Dallas for treatment. He recently had surgery to insert a pump on his heart and had to be removed from the transplant list until he recovered from that operation. Orlandus' dad said Saturday's event just shows how much love and support his family has.

I just want to ask the community to continue to support us, to continue to pray for us, as we battle through this. Still a long road. Orlandus has been through so much, but he still has a long way to go," Vincent Noel, Orlandus' dad said.

In addition to donations, the family had several items up for auction including some hall of fame signed baseballs from Orlandus' brother Rico Noel who plays for the New York Yankees.

If you weren't able to make it out to Saturday's event, but would like to offer your support to the Noel family. You can make a donation to Orlandus' GoFundMe on our website, at Fort Sill Credit Union, where an account has been set up in Orlandus' name.
