Lawton builds new fence around stored pipes

LAWTON, Okla._The City of Lawton has installed new fencing around stored sewer pipes at a park in an effort to keep people away.

A four-foot chain-link fence now surrounds that pile of pipes at the park at Northwest 5th Street and Columbia. Neighbors in the area expressed concerns over neighborhood children often seen playing on the equipment. Two days after our story aired, city workers put up the fence.

An orange mesh fence was put up around the pipes previously, but it was not keeping the children out.

City officials hope the new fence will do the job.
