Duncan approves lease for temporary firefighter housing

DUNCAN, Okla._Duncan firefighters assigned to the station where mold was found will soon have a temporary location on-site.

The Duncan City Council approved a lease agreement on a mobile home that can be placed next to Station No. 3 where the crew can stay. The crew has been relocated to the downtown fire station since the mold was found in the living quarters.

There are three firemen on duty at Station No. 3 during each eight-hour shift. The mobile home is 14 feet by 75 feet, fully contained and complete with showers. It will be leased for $500 a month. City Manager Jim Frieda says they hope to have it installed by the end of next week.

There's still no word on how extensive the mold damage is. The station is safe for the crew to enter the equipment area and the truck bays.
