Police officer on paid leave after allegedly hitting student

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla._Investigators are reviewing surveillance video that shows an Oklahoma City police officer hitting a high school student. In the video, Master Sergeant Thomas Jaha serving as a resource officer at a local high school.

He confronts a 16-year-old student without a hall pass. That's when the officer says the student took a fighting stance. The officer admits to hitting the student in the face in order to protect himself.

The district attorney has filed an assault and battery charge against Jaha. The 25-year veteran officer is on paid administrative leave as the investigation into the incident continues.
