Thousands served at 60th annual Ambucs Pancake Day

LAWTON, Okla._The sausage sizzled and the pancakes were hot for the 60th annual Lawton Ambucs fundraiser.

The event costs $10 a plate at the door and will last until 8:00 p.m. Monday, Ambucs estimated between 4,000 and 6,000 pancakes will be served by the end of the event. Ambucs member Larry Holcomb says it's a great community event for people to enjoy.

"Mostly, we think that we have the best pancakes, sausage, bacon of any of the other events like this, but mainly just it's a good opportunity for people to come out to see the people that maybe that don't get to see all year long and it is just a good community event," Holcomb said.

Ambucs raised about $27,000 at this event in 2014 and they're on track to do the same this year. That money will go to build wheelchair ramps, buy Amtrykes and give scholarships to people going into the field of physical therapy.
