Lawton negotiating with police, fire unions

LAWTON, Okla._The Lawton City Council met in a brief executive session Monday at City Hall to discuss the ongoing negotiations with the police and fire unions over a new contract.

The City Council spent roughly 30 minutes behind closed doors before they emerged and adjourned without taking action. Councilman Jay Burk says he could not comment on the specifics of what they discussed, but he expects the City Council will have a specific proposal to vote on at their next regularly scheduled meeting November 10.

Both unions' contracts expired this summer and have been working under the terms of those agreements since then.
