YMCA and Arvest Bank host Veterans Day reception

LAWTON, Okla._Veterans were recognized in a Veterans Day reception hosted by the Armed Services YMCA and Arvest Bank.

One of the event’s organizers said while the holiday is spent recognizing vets and making them feel appreciated---he said it's important they're not forgotten the rest of the year.

"We are the freest country in the world and we don't get that easy. We have thousands of vets who have served this country willingly we have a volunteer army, they put themselves in harm’s way, some cases sacrifice their lives for the freedoms we enjoy," said Master of Ceremonies Gene Love.

At Wednesday’s ceremony winners of a youth art contest featuring a Veterans Day theme were also recognized.  Arvest Bank, presented the Armed Services Y with a $5,000 donation.
