One key sequence to start the 4th quarter doomed No. 2 Lawton High in a 36-6 loss to Bixby. The Wolverines trailed the 8-6 to start the final frame and were set to get the ball back.
Bixby's Tanner Griffin was able to pull down a high punt snap and proceeded to uncork a beautiful kick that was downed at the Lawton High 1-yard line. Junior quarterback Zack Hanna fumbled the snap and the Spartans recovered in the end zone for a touchdown to push the score to 15-6. It was all Bixby from there as they outscored Lawton High 21-0 over the final 11:30.
Lawton High's turnover issues started early. Hanna fumbled on the second play of the game. Bixby recovered deep in Wolverine territory. The Spartans quickly cashed in with a Nic Roller touchdown run and a 2-point conversion to take a quick 8-0 lead. Lawton High's defense kept the game close throughout the first half. The LHS secondary produced four interceptions, all in their own territory, to stay within single-digits at halftime.
