LAWTON, Okla._Lawton Assistant City Manager Jim Russell is relocating his office once again, following a shakeup in the city's Housing and Community Development Department.
The local office oversees federal money used to fund low-income housing, revitalize neighborhoods and other economic opportunities that primarily benefit low-income households. As of Thursday, the department's rehab specialist, a 13-year employee, is no longer with the city after Russell says several procedural problems were identified.
He said by moving his office, he'll be able to directly oversee the changes that need to be made. He's been serving as the department's interim director since the previous director resigned suddenly this summer due to health reasons. Russell says he'll remain there until all concerns are addressed.
