Man seriously burned in flash fire

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla._A flash fire that caused burns to a man's lower body is under investigation.

Calls placed to dispatch Thursday evening initially reported a man was burned following a small explosion at this trailer home on Southeast 41ST and Bishop Road. Comanche County Sheriff Kenny Stradley says they now believe it was a flash fire that ignited in a bedroom where the man was mixing Epsom salt and other chemicals. The man told investigators he was mixing the chemicals simply because it was something he enjoyed doing. County narcotics agents were called in to investigate, and did not find any components connected to a possible meth lab. The fire was out by the time firefighters arrived. Fire damage was isolated to a bed and bedroom floor.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the man was expected to be transferred to a burn unit at a Texas hospital.
