Duncan church asking for more shoe box donations

DUNCAN, Okla._The United Methodist Church of Duncan is looking to beat their record for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes this year, and Monday is the last day to drop them off. Right now, the church has over 900 boxes ready to go to give to children all over the world. They are looking to beat their record of sending over 1,000 boxes.

Volunteer Leah Berning says the boxes don't have to be fancy. They can just be filled with toys and non-perishable items for children in need during the holiday season.

"Depending were the boxes go, they may be delivered by elephant, by canoe, by ox cart or by any means it takes to get the boxes to the children where ever they are,” Berning said.

The last day to drop off the boxes is Monday at the church from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
