Rain, thunderstorms expected on Thanksgiving

NORMAN, Okla._The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall is expected on Thanksgiving Day, and it could result in flooding.

Heavy rain and possibly light wintry precipitation is expected as Oklahoma travelers hit the road for the Thanksgiving holiday. No severe storms are expected, but the wet weather could make traveling difficult.

On Thursday night and early Friday morning, parts of northern and western Oklahoma could see freezing rain. Forecasters say other parts of the state could see the wintry precipitation over the weekend as well.

Thanksgiving morning through the afternoon, scattered showers with a few thunderstorms will be possible in southwestern Oklahoma. Bands of heavy rainfall with occasional thunder will move through Texoma Thursday evening, so minor flooding will be possible.

A cold front will move through between Thursday night and Friday morning, which will drop the temperature into the 30s for Friday and Saturday.

This weekend's Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game could be a chilly one as well; forecasters are predicting a high of 39 in Stillwater on Saturday, but that is subject to change.
