Driver escapes injury in crash that killed horse

JACKSON COUNTY, Okla._ An SUV is likely totaled and a horse is dead after a driver crashed into the animal in Jackson County.

It happened around 11 Wednesday night on Highway 283 just south of the Martha Y. The driver says he looked up and saw the large white horse standing in the roadway and he had no time to avoid it. The horse rolled across his hood, broke the windshield and caused the car to spin out. We're told the driver was not hurt but was very shaken up. Unfortunately the horse did not make it.
