Sen Lankford releases 'waste report'

WASHINGTON, DC_A new report from Oklahoma's junior US Senator James Lankford is highlighting what he calls billions of dollars in wasteful federal spending.

Lankford's report highlights big ticket spending like $5 billion on fraudulent income tax returns, to small programs like a $40,000 grant to study the history of tobacco use in Russia. For each of the 100 examples cited in the report, Lankford recommends a way the government can fix the problem.

Lankford says it's important to make the public aware of excessive spending and that he plans to make the report an annual project. You can read his report here.
