Woman beaten outside Lawton convenience store

LAWTON, Okla._ A man is in the Lawton City Jail and is facing assault charges after attacking a woman in a gas station parking lot.

It happened at the Stripes at Southwest 11th Street and Lee Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a woman pulled into the gas station with Christmas decorations on her car. When she came back out of the store, a man, Brandon Rankin, asked her if anything was missing. The woman noticed he had taken her Rudolph nose and followed him around the corner of the building and got it back.

Police say she was on the phone with dispatch, standing next to her car, when Rankin came up and started punching her in the face. Another man pulled Rankin off of her and held him down until police arrived.

Rankin was checked out by EMS for abrasions to his forehead and nose. He was treated and released at the scene before being taken to the Lawton City Jail.

The woman suffered bruising to her cheek and around her left eye.
