Getting into the Christmas spirit at the Frost Ya Fanny run

LAWTON, Okla._The City of Lawton with the Parks and Recreation Department hosted the 21st annual Frost Ya Fanny run Saturday night. Participants came out to Elmer Thomas Park to run in a one mile run or a 5K, all while getting into the Christmas spirit. Kids got a chance to meet the Grinch and a gingerbread woman after the kid’s candy cane race.

Kristen Fitzpatrick who is part of a running group in Lawton says she tries to come out to all of these events with her family and friends.

"It's so important to be out in the community and to support activities in our community, and to be active,” said Fitzpatrick.

Michell Rosario with the Parks and Recreation Department says they have many events throughout the year to keep people active, but this one gets people moving when the temperatures are getting colder.

"We want everyone to get out and enjoy yourself and get ready to start the holiday season, and one way to do it is to get out and do the Frost Ya Fanny run," said Rosario.

As the runners went through the Christmas displays out at the park their times were tracked, and prizes were awarded at the end of the race.
