LAWTON, Okla._7News presented a check to the students at Woodland Hills Elementary for all the hard work they did for the Spirit of Survival.
"It makes me very proud, our kids are amazing, they're always looking for something fun to do, and if it's active it's even better for them. And it's just been kind of a tradition we love doing these types of marathons," Jonathan Timms, Woodland Hills PE teacher.
Woodland Hills won the $500 check for having the most participants in the large school division of the Spirit of Survival Kids' Challenge. The kids were eager to get active for a good cause, and the fact their PE teacher dressed up for the event didn't hurt either.
Though Woodland Hills received their check Monday, a number of other schools were rewarded for their participation including: Crosby Park, Hugh Bish, Trinity Christian School and Freedom Elementary.
