LAWTON, Okla._Two people have tossed their hats into the ring for Don Barrington's Senate seat
Toni Hasenbeck and Chris Kidd, both Republicans, are seeking the District 31 seat, which covers part of Comanche, Cotton, Jefferson and Tillman counties. The seat is being vacated by Senator Don Barrington of Lawton after 12 years because of term limits.
Hasenbeck teaches seventh-grade at Elgin Public Schools. She and her husband also own a calf-cow operation.
Hasenbeck describes herself as a conservative who supports traditional values and believes the state should spend less on wasteful welfare programs and direct that money into better roads, schools and public safety.
Hasenbeck ran against Scooter Park for the District 65 seat last year when Joe Dorman vacated that position. Park won the election.
Chris Kidd is a fifth generation Oklahoman and says he's passionate about his native state, its people, past and future. Kidd also describes himself as a conservative. He sa
