Teen pleads guilty to Temple murder

WALTERS, Okla._The teenager from Cotton County who was charged with murder in the death of a woman at her home in Temple pleaded guilty.

The 13-year-old boy may have pleaded guilty, but he is being treated as a juvenile offender, which means his punishment will be handled by the state office of juvenile affairs.

According to an affidavit in the case, the teen admitted to shooting the victim, 41-year-old Shannen Brown, in the head while she was sleeping in her home in August. He then used a cigarette lighter to set the bedroom and the living room on fire before calling the fire department for help.

He was arrested at that time, and charged with the crime two days later. Thursday, the judge ordered a pre-sentencing investigation and that report is due in January.

The judge will hand down his sentence February 11.
