LAWTON, Okla._Lawton police raided a grocery store Tuesday morning and found hundreds of glass pipes and crack kits.
Within minutes of serving the search warrant to the store owner, police recovered drug paraphernalia. The raid happened around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kwik Chek Grocery near Southwest 27th Street and Gore Boulevard.
Hundreds of glass pipes and crack kits—which contained steel wool, pipes and lighters—were discovered behind the counter and in the back room.
Lieutenant John Mull of the Lawton Police Department says the raid should serve as a warning to business owners if they choose to sell illegal products, they will eventually be caught.
"To be honest about it. To be honest. Don't sell the stuff that's illegal. You know what the purpose of this is for. Let's stop selling it, because we are watching," Lt. Mull said.
Charges are expected to be filed later in the week against the store owner for illegal sale of glass pipes. The charge is a misdemeanor carrying a maximum sentence of one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
