Our First Alert 7 app can tell you if the approaching storm has hail, strong winds or rotation. You can also turn on lightning alerts so you’ll know immediately if lightning is threatening your outdoor plans. You’ll get real-time severe weather alerts for any location you choose, so you can track the weather where you are or where a loved-one lives.

Here are some of the features of the First Alert 7 app:

  • Storm Tracks: See at a glance where a storm is and where it’s headed
  • Multiple Alerts: Turn on alerts for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, floods, tropical storms/hurricanes, winter storms and more so you’re covered no matter where you go
  • Updated forecasts from the First Alert 7 Weather Team
  • A constantly updated 10-day forecast, so your weekend is always in view

Our app is completely free and is available for Apple and Android devices.

Starting out

You can pinpoint your location down to a specific street for the best forecasting and alert accuracy. Push and hold your finger on the marker and drag it over where you are. You may need to zoom out a bit first.

Changing your location is simple, just click the name of your current city and add a new location using the + in the top right corner or select “Use Current Location” and click “Set as Home.” This will keep the weather and alerts current to wherever you are at the time.

Tailoring to you

Select Menu and go to Settings. From here you’ll be able to decide if you want to use Fahrenheit or Celsius, miles per hour or kilometers per hour and choose your default start screen. This is also where you can decide if you want to turn the status bar notifications on or off, use sounds, use LED lights or use vibrations.

This is also the area where you can turn National Weather Service alerts and lightning alerts on or off. It’s worth noting that lightning alerts are only sent when you set your Home Location to “Use Current Location” and you’re within our broadcast area.

App Features

The app comes with a 10-day forecast, 24-hour hour-by-hour forecast, the latest First Alert 7 Forecast and live radar. Those screens are in what we call the carousel. Above the carousel is the current temperature, feels like, humidity, dew point and wind speed/direction.
