ALTUS, Okla. (KSWO) – Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in southwest Altus earlier today. Police say an officer was on patrol when he recognized a man who had a felony drug warrant for his arrest around 2 p.m.
The suspect ran from a house on the 1200 block of West Frisco Street up to the intersection of South Hickman and West Wingfield Street. The suspect hid behind a car, and police say the officer saw him pull out a gun. The officer then shot the suspect.
A bullet grazed the left side of the suspect's chest. He was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital, and his injury is non-life threatening. The Altus officer was not hurt. The suspect's identity has not been released.
