DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) - Christmas came early for some kids in Stephens County, thanks in part to the Duncan Fire Department. Over a two day period, Duncan firefighters have been working to deliver shiny new bicycles to the doorsteps of families in need. In addition to a new bicycle, around 90 kids also got the chance to visit with firefighters and Sparky the fire dog, while also checking out the fire engine.
April Kennedy's family received one of today's special deliveries that also included some necessities and said it was a welcomed sight.
"Fire trucks pulled up, bicycles came out, diapers came out, and kids are excited," said Kennedy.
Each bike was chosen and adjusted for every kid on the list. Firefighters said they were just as excited to make the deliveries as those were to receive them. A majority of the bikes were donated by the Byford Auto Dealership. The rest were donated by members in the community and Walmart.
