Santa visits retirement home

Santa delivers presents to residents Santa delivers presents to residents

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Santa came early delivering gifts to residents at a Lawton retirement home proving you're never too old to believe.

"I'm always excited that's the kid in me,” said resident Leona Adams.

"Some of them are hugging him, giving him kisses, they're saying is he staying? Is he going to stay here? Of course we can't keep Santa, we can't keep him that's obvious," said activities coordinator Charlotte Thompson.

Thompson says the event was made possible after one of the resident's daughters made a plea to the community via Facebook asking for gift donations so that every resident would have something under the tree for Christmas.

"A lot of times we hear about the bad things on the news and this is something that is so good because our seniors often come here and don't get to see the outside world, a lot can't get out anymore, so, to see our community come together this way is very, very nice," said Thompson.

More than 200 gifts were donated by the community.
