Suspected arsonist caught on camera buying cup of gasoline

Car intentionally set on fire Car intentionally set on fire

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- Surveillance cameras could help police identify a man believed to be responsible for a carjacking and arson.

The victim told police he had just arrived home from work Wednesday and was getting out of his car at Northwest 46th and Lindy Ave. when a black man approached him. He said the suspect pointed a gun in his face and demanded his wallet and the keys to his car. Minutes later, emergency responders were called to an apartment complex at Northwest 31st and Cache Rd. where the victim's car was found on fire.  Witnesses told police shortly before the fire they saw a black male digging through the trunk of the car. Police say less than a block away a gas station clerk said a man fitting the suspect's description came into the store only to purchase a cup of gas, and after leaving the store, he later returned to buy a second cup. The suspect was recorded on surveillance video. No arrests have been made.
