LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -After being affected by downed powerlines over the past two days, the Lawton Police Department says communication was fully restored late Monday afternoon between their officers in the field and the dispatch center.

Power was lost Sunday, and that's when a generator kicked in. However, they were unable to run all of their technology at full capacity. Officers say all along, residents were able to call 911 without any delays. However, during the power outage, an officer was having to pick up radio calls on a lower frequency while parked outside of the dispatch center. That officer would then broadcast them out to the other officers on patrol.

Police Chief James Smith says it did not affect the department's ability to respond to calls in a timely fashion.
