LOS ANGELES, CA (KSWO) Fort Sill's Half-Section is gearing up for their first-ever appearance in the Rose Bowl Parade on Friday.

On Tuesday, they performed in the Equest-Fest, which is a show featuring all the equestrian entries in the parade. The Half-Section chief said the crowd seemed to enjoy it when they fired their cannon. He said they took a southern route to California in an effort to avoid the winter storm that moved through this weekend, and were only slowed briefly by ice going through El Paso. The team will continue to exercise the horses tomorrow, and get them cleaned, fed and ready for a national television audience on New Year's day.  It starts at 10:00 a.m. Oklahoma time. They learned today they will be in the 78th position among the parade entries.
