LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - The identity of the man who was arrested for child neglect after a toddler was found walking in the streets in Lawton has been released. Police say Devin Dean, the uncle of that 2-year-old boy, was supposed to be watching the boy when his mother went to work Saturday afternoon. The boy was found on in the area of SW G Avenue and SW 26th Street before 5 p.m. Saturday with no shoes, and just a diaper and shorts.

Dean told police he didn't know he was supposed to be watching the boy, and left the home 30 minutes after the mother left for work. The mother wasn’t told until after she got off work that her child was found in the street. Dean did not contact the mother or police that the child was missing.

When police came by the apartment to question Dean they located a glass meth pipe in the chair he was sitting in at their apartment. When questioned he admitted to smoking meth earlier that day.

The child remains in DHS custody as they investigate this incident.
