Woman stops hot dog thief, loses tooth

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A man with a hankering for a hot dog was arrested after slapping a clerk who tried to stop him from stealing one. 

Anthony Scales, 53, is accused of taking a hot dog from the Stripes at 601 W. Sheridan. The clerk said Scales entered the store and pretended to throw money on the counter. She said he then grabbed a hot dog and attempted to leave without paying.

The clerk tried to stop Scales by grabbing the hot dog, but he hit her and knocked out her front tooth. Scales then fled the scene, but was spotted by witnesses a short time later. After being detained, an officer learned that Scales had a warrant for his arrest. Police say he also had meth and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Scales was arrested and booked on complaints of first-degree robbery, drug possession, and failure to appear.
