Hundreds show livestock in Lawton

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Hundreds of 4H and FFA students are showing off their hogs Saturday at the Comanche County Fairgrounds.

The Great Plains Winter National Pig and Lamb show kicked off Friday with the lambs.

Saturday, young people paraded their pigs in front of judges for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place rankings in each category. New this year is the award for "Premier Swine Exhibitor", which includes the prize of a trailer worth $2,500.

Lawton FFA student Morgan Robertson showed two pigs Saturday. Robertson says this experience is well worth all the hard work that it took to get to Saturday.

"Meeting the people they are really nice. They'll help you out. The pigs, I like animals a lot and it's just a lot of fun all around," said Robertson.

Students who attended the event aren't just from Southwest Oklahoma, they are also from across the state and parts of Texas.
