LAWTON, OK (KSWO) – Lawton City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to offer a curbside residential recycling program through a private contractor.
As we reported last week, it would be a subscription-based system, in which only those people who wanted it, would pay a seven-dollar monthly fee. At the council meeting, a company representative gave a presentation showing how their operation works in other towns. They will supply the bins and the trucks, and would pick up the recyclable material once a week. The company says they must have at least 5,000 subscribers for it to be profitable.
Details on how people can sign up for the service will be worked out in the near future.
