LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –The Comanche County Detention Center is trying to get a grant for a high-tech upgrade.
Comanche County Detention Center administrator Bill Hobbs asked the Comanche County Commissioners during their meeting Tuesday if he could apply for a $21,000 grant from the National Criminal History Improvement Program.
The money from the grant would be used to buy a new high-tech fingerprinting station, known as Live Scan. The U.S. Justice Department administers the program and the grants, and encourages local agencies to apply for the money to cover the costs of implementing it.
The commissioners approved the grant application request.
They'll find out in October if they will get the money. Once approved, they will purchase the system.
