DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) - The Stephens County District Attorney's office announced an upcoming forum on domestic abuse. The forum will be hosted by the Stephens County District Attorney's office, and will focus on the recent murder of Alyssa Wiles and how the community can work together to reduce domestic abuse incidents. The family of Alyssa will present her story to the crowd and will discuss how domestic violence occurs not only in adult relationships, but also in teenage relationships.
As part of the commitment to fight domestic abuse, the District 06 District Attorney's office is planning to begin training with local officers to achieve "victimless prosecutions."
The district attorney noted that this means they will be working with law enforcement with the goal of presenting solid domestic abuse cases to a jury, or court, without the necessity of calling the victim as a witness in the case.
The forum will be held on February 11, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., at the Red River Technology Center in Duncan.
