New bulk trash pick-up program to start in February

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Starting February 1st, Lawton residents can get bulk trash pick-up twice a year at their convenience. Tuesday night, the Lawton city council passed the new program proposed by the Public Works Division.

After having issues with the twice-a-year pick up last year, the city began to look into what would make bulk pick-up easier for the residents and the Solid Waste Collection Division.

Now with the new program, residents can call the Public Works Department, and schedule a day when the city can come pick up their bulk trash at a time that corresponds with the homeowner's regular trash pickup day. Previously, the city charged residents $110 an hour for a bulk trash house call.  The new policy will allow residents two calls a year for free. Anything beyond that, will invoke the hourly charge.
