LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –The jury is still deliberating after coming back hung shortly after 6 p.m. in the Robert Long murder trial.
The jury heard from more witnesses Wednesday, including Detective Aron Malloy. While on the stand, a video of a police interview conducted by the Lawton Police Department was played for the jury. In that video, investigators interviewed a witness at the police station in 2014 that allegedly came in contact with a man wearing the same mask the suspect was said to have worn the night of the murder. However, Detective Malloy told the defense that the witness had marked out Long on the suspect sheet three times, excluding him as a positive ID.
Long's brother, Ronny Wrighton, who is currently incarcerated in Oklahoma City, was also called to the stand by the defense to be an alibi for Long. However, he turned out to be a stronger witness for the state when he couldn't keep an accurate time line of where his brother was that night.
Closing arguments wrapped up early Wednesday afternoon and the jury started their deliberations. The came back with a hung verdict just after 6 p.m. and have gone back to the jury room to decide Robert Long's fate.
