Tipton teacher wants more time before entering plea

FREDERICK, OK (KSWO) -Attorneys for a former Tipton teacher, accused of having sexual relations with two students, has asked for more time to decide whether her client wants to enter a plea.

Laura Cowan appeared in a Tillman County courtroom Tuesday with her attorney, who says they are about seven to 10 days away from a plea or setting a trial date.

Police say Cowan admitted to having sex with two students. Cowan's charges were initially dismissed when authorities could not find the students, but Cowan was charged with second-degree rape when they were located a few months later.

Cowan is scheduled to be back in court early February.
