AMARILLO, TX (KSWO) –An estimated $3 million in drugs were taken off the streets after a minivan was pulled over for a traffic violation.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says a trooper stopped a 2015 Chrysler minivan for a traffic violation on I-40 near Conway, in Carson County, at 9:37 a.m. Tuesday. During the stop, the trooper found 27 bundles of methamphetamine inside picture frames. The 27 bundles of meth had a combined weight of more than 35 pounds.
The driver, 24-year-old Edir Del Carmen Ortega-Moncada, and the passenger, 33-year-old Daniel Soto-Hernandez, both from Tijuana, Mexico, were booked into the Carson County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance.
The two were allegedly taking the meth from Tijuana to Atlanta, Georgia.
Texas DPS says the drugs are valued at more than $3 million.
