Bridal fair preparations

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Brides of Southwest Oklahoma will have a chance of planning their wedding all in one place Sunday.

Saturday, vendors begin setting up tables in the Comanche County Fairgrounds Annex for the 11th Annual Journey for the Bride and Groom Bridal Fair. Admission cost just $4. Over $3,000 in prizes will be given away during the fair. For those planning a wedding this year there will be local vendors, including caterers, bridal registry stores, photographers and more. Owner of Journey Productions, Pat Reynolds says after 11 years of putting this event together he still looks forward to helping people with their big day.

"Seeing the people come in the door that are here. They're excited. They're ready to get married and they're planning and they are ready to come in here and make some decisions and it's just the coolest thing," said Reynolds.

Sunday afternoon more than 500 brides and grooms along with their families will walk through the door for this one stop shopping event. Reynolds says the latest trend for weddings is that couples make all the special details unique to them.

"Now it's all customized and everything is different and we have meetings with the bride and groom prior to, to get what they want and what they don't want," said Reynolds.

One of the 26 vendors showcased at the fair is wedding photographer Annabel Rauch. She says her advice for the future newlyweds is to decide how much they want to spend before they talk to any photographers.

"That's one of the first places to start and then you can go looking for a photographer that's in your budget. Once you've established your budget then you have to take a look at the photographers style because after that it just becomes a personal decision," said Rauch.

She says often times brides become flooded with too many options during the three short hours of the bridal fair.

"The bridal fair is a great place to chit-chat, but it can get of overwhelming when you have a lot of vendors in one place so bring your calendar and make an appointment to talk with them face to face later," said Rauch.

At the end of the fair there will be a fashion show with the latest in bridal fashions, tuxedos, and bridesmaids dresses.
