OSBI investigates fatal shooting, dad claims self-defense

RANDLETT, OK (KSWO) –The Cotton County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from OSBI after a man was shot multiple times and died.

Deputies and emergency medical technicians were called to a home on the 1400 block of East Avenue E in Randlett around 8 p.m. Monday. They found 51-year-old Rhey Sales had been shot multiple time. Sales was taken to a Wichita Falls hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators learned Sales was living at his father's home and threw several items at his 75-year-old father who uses a wheelchair for mobility. Mager Sales, Rhey's father, told investigators Rhey threatened to kill him several times, and he was in fear for his life when he shot his son.

OSBI interviewed numerous people at the scene and family members. The case will be given to the Cotton County District Attorney's Office and they will decide if the fatal shooting was in self-defense.

No arrests have been made.
