LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -A local organization that helps children and adults with disabilities is getting recognition from the City of Lawton.

Mayor Fred Fitch gave out a proclamation to the four Ambucs clubs in Lawton and designated the month of February 2016 as "Ambucs Visibility Month."

The organization provides Amtrykes for children with disabilities and disabled veterans to help improve their participation in activities they may not have been able to before receiving an Amtryke.

"It's awesome. It’s always nice to be recognized, and such a great service organization to promote it and let the community know what we're about. It's a great feeling," said Anita Love, Ambucs governor.

Ambucs is a non-profit organization that raises money through annual events such as pancake days, the Mountain Metro Ambucs Amtryke races and the Trykes N' Tread car show.
