LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Students from MacArthur High School proved they're more than willing to give back to the community.

MacArthur High's art class students presented a check for more than $700 to the Lawton Food Bank. The students raised the money through their own creativity by creating special baskets in class and auctioning them off.

The art class has been lending a hand to the Lawton Food Bank for more than five years, and the students in this year's class are all too happy to support a good cause.

"I feel like we get overlooked, but really this shows that we do care and we do pay attention to what’s going on in our world and our community, and we do care and we want to make a difference," said Riley McKinney, a MacArthur High senior.

Since the art class began the auctions, they've raised more than $3,000 for the Lawton Food Bank.

According to the food bank, the students' efforts alone have provided more than 16,000 meals for hungry families.
