LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –An officer with the Lawton Police Department is being commended for his quick action and calming demeanor in helping a family and their sick daughter early Monday morning.

Officer Collin Ney, and Lt. Eric Carter and Officer Josh Dawson, responded as backup with first responders at 2:30 a.m. Monday on a call of a little girl needing help. The 3-year-old girl was unconscious and wasn’t breathing when the family called for help. They say the girl woke up throwing up, had a high fever and had a seizure before going unconscious.

Officer Ney, the first one on scene, went to school with the girl’s mother. The mother, Harley Delgado, said she was absolutely terrified and it was a relief to see Ney at the door.

Delgado said her husband and Ney were able to get her daughter to breathe steadily until the ambulance arrived with oxygen. The child is back home and is doing much better.
