LOCO, OK (KSWO) - An elderly man died in a house fire overnight in the Stephens County town of Loco.
An elderly woman who lived in the home told authorities she was awakened by her smoke alarm early Monday morning. She said she saw smoke and flames and ran out of the house to get help. A neighbor called 911, but when they returned to the home the flames had grown too much to go back inside to rescue the other resident, who was sleeping in another room.
He's been identified as 71-year-old Bidal Cordova. Sheriff Wayne McKinney said it appeared the fire started near one of the bedrooms, but nothing looks suspicious. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause.
The house was destroyed.
